By John Fortney: Dream Match Up Is Here
ATLANTA - Buckeye fans dreamed it and now they have it -- not a national title yet, but that coveted rematch with the Gators.
Almost every fan we talked to looked past the Hoyas to the Gators. It's all about payback and revenge, not just for the earlier loss to the basketball gators this year, but much more for the loss against Florida in the national championship in Arizona.
I was there for that and, well I know you don't want to relive that. So if it's about revenge, Buckeye fans want to serve it up cold. Apologies to the PETA people, but raw gator on the Buckeye half shell might just hit the spot for these fans in Atlanta.
After a hard night of partying around "Hot-lanta" Saturday, Buckeye fans dedicated Sunday to a day of rest. Many of them strolled around Centennial Park, or just hung out by the indoor pool at the Sheraton.
One thing that made them sit up was that great Associated Press photo of Greg Oden going horizontal. Yes, he missed the dunk, but these fans were amazed that the big man could get up like that.
Now, the gear up for Monday. You can bet the Buckeye nation will be restless tonight for Monday. They're going to need all the rest they can, because the Gator nation is here. It's just a short drive of course, and I can tell you the gator fans are confident if not cocky.
