Lusitania Sunk by German U-Boat (1915)
The Lusitania was an ocean liner that was sunk off the Irish coast by a German submarine, killing 1,198 people, including almost 100 children. Although the crisis subsided, the event played a role in the US's entry into WWI, with recruitment posters urging potential enlistees to "Remember the Lusitania!"
